#FaithSeries: RENAISSANCE




Praying was difficult for Fola. She loved God, she loved church and all that good stuff, but she was not interested. It was like her connection to heaven had been switched off and in this pandemic, with no church services, it grew worse. She was struggling daily to bury her guilt whenever people discussed about having a ‘personal relationship with God’. 

“What did that even mean? These people have come again”. She thought.

Staying indoors for 24 hours in a pandemic and having nothing to do was quite frustrating. There was absolutely nothing that fascinated her and she was gradually feeling empty and had no sense of direction.
As she stood in the kitchen to prepare pancakes for breakfast, she realized there were no eggs in the house and so, decided to get some. On getting to the grocery shop on her street, she realized that they had no eggs and so, she had to go to another shop to get eggs and she was unhappy about that. Eventually, she got what she needed and grudgingly headed home to prepare her brunch.

As she stepped into her house, she stared at the bag in her hand. Then it dawned on her. An essential ingredient was missing and because of her cravings for pancakes that morning, she stepped out of the house to search for it and didn’t return until she was able to purchase it. Perhaps, her determination was fuelled by her hunger and the assurance that once she got home, her efforts would be rewarded with tasty pancakes.
So why wasn’t she praying? If God is an essential part of her life, why wasn’t she communicating with God? Why wasn’t she reading His word and working towards having a relationship with Him? Fola was in awe as to how getting eggs for pancakes, metamorphosed into a deep revelation of her urgent need for a revival.



Hey Believer. We all have our stories. The very hot days and the verrrrrrrry cold days. But do you know that everyday can be ‘HOT’? We must be intentional about never losing touch with the Holy Spirit. We are encouraged to draw closer to God and know Him for ourselves. A revival would not just happen with you doing nothing. Having a relationship with God involves communicating with God, and that is done through prayer, studying God’s word, listening to, and obeying God’s instructions. And where it seems difficult to do so, don’t dwell in that state. Reach out to Him and He’ll empower you!
2 Corinthians 12:9- My grace is sufficient for you and my strength is made perfect in weakness.
His grace is available, not as a licence to dwell in laziness but to empower you to live a life that is renewed and pleases God.

    Wow! I'm awed by this. Thank you for this piece, it has definitely helped to fuel my desire to keep communicating with God.
    I admit, even I am like Fola sometimes. At times hot, at times cold.

    How you managed to link 'determination to settle pancake cravings' with 'determination to keep communicating with God' is superb.

    Thank you once again for this short piece, I am encouraged, I am determined, I am focused. No matter how each day goes, I won't stop communicating with my God.

I'M BACK!

2021 has been an eventful year so far! I know it's been a minute. Errrrr, maybe more than a minute. It's been 11 weeks!😂😂😂  I resumed in January 2021 to complete my training at the Nigerian Law School. The pandemic extended the academic calendar and so, I had to use the remaining time judiciously. Rounded off my bar exams last week. Thank God for everything, honestly. I. AM. BACK. 😊 Watch out for amazing and inspiring contents on academics, faith, and lifestyle. #YoursTruly03: OLD PLAYLIST

                      I love music. I think that is an interesting fact about me because no day passes without music being a major part of my 24 hours. I have a thing for lyrics and beats too. Once it blesses, edifies and inspires me, there’s a playlist for it. Some days ago, my entire last added playlist rearranged itself. I was like “who sent this one message” at the beginning because, my newly downloaded songs were lost in the crowd of my very long list. But, I realized that some of the songs I was seeing were my jams back in the day.  It’s a cycle.
