#YoursTruly01: ‘REUNION’
It’s funny how we do not plan these things. I remember those movies I watched while growing up. You know, those movies where the story begins with a young girl and then after a few scenes, we get the ‘10 years later’ memo. Yes, those ones.
Growing up, I had this impression that human beings tend to look completely different from childhood. Well, Biology defines that as growth. But I just used to think that a person would have this different face and identity when he or she grows up. I guess this could be attributed to those movies, and the fact that a different person would take up the role of the older character in the story. Well, Thank God for improved understanding.
So, a few days ago, I got connected with some of my class mates from Primary School and it was a special moment for all of us. Though it was a virtual reunion, it was really beautiful. Having to connect with some of my old friends after 13 years was mind-blowing and amazing. The extra spice was that everyone had to introduce themselves and share a recent picture and guess what? The transformation was massive!
Personally, I could recognize everyone and we practically looked the same. But the evident growth wowed everyone. And trust those experienced throwback picture savers to always dig up pictures that have been long buried in God knows where. Those guys started sharing pictures that got everyone excited. 13 years seemed like yesterday.
This ‘reunion’ got me thinking about some things and asking some questions. How do you want to be remembered? What do you want to be remembered for? In a few years, today will become the past and the most recent picture on your phone will probably be tagged as a throwback picture suitable for Thursdays. The time for personal development is now, not later. Treat people around you with love and respect and have a forgiving heart.
The future you is depending on you to become a better version of you. Remember that.

I like this part "The future you is depending on you to become a better version of you". Self development at this stage of our lives is very important.
ReplyDeleteGreat work there favour! You make me want to keep pushing to become a better person.
I'm glad.
DeleteThank you very much.
I love this
ReplyDelete"The future you is depending on you to become a better version of you." really stood out to me. I'd also like to say that loving and respecting people around us is truly tested when we're in situations where we feel offended or taken for granted. Cos the truth is - It is easier to love the lovable, love, showing kindness gets hard when the supposed recipient of our love acts so unlovable. But even so, we can rely on God's grace and actively embrace self and social awareness, emotional intelligence and having the right attitude towards others even in difficult situations.
